Teenage girls and the things they do amuse me. Considering that I am one, I still feel like an outsider, observing their interests and whereabouts. Before any of my peers who consider themselves above and beyond all the other girls criticize me, let me clear the air by stating my defense. I am basing my statements on general observations. So there is no need for you to whine and say, “That’s not true! I’m different!” Believe me, I know where you’re coming from. Once again, all my blabbering is preceded by “generally speaking”. Let these two words hang over your head for your own good.
I stare at the world
Standing barefoot on a mountain top
Feeling the cold beneath my feet
Why aren’t you here to warm them up?
Away from it all once more
Picking stars one by one
Why aren’t you here to keep score?
Turning a year older
I smile at their request
Why aren’t you here to make it better?
Waiting for my life-to-be
Killing time by thinking of tomorrow
Why aren’t you here waiting with me?
Looking down about to fall
I don’t see you anywhere
Why aren’t you here at all?
I walked the road alone
You caught me with my feet buried under the ground
You put me out of my misery
I only gave You a warm handshake
I tripped over their gossips
You brought me back to my feet
Now I gave You a genuine embrace
I drowned in my own frustrations
You breathed life into me
This time I gave You my life
Because You gave me yours
I’ll tell them all about You
And what You’ve done for me
I will never forget Your love
